How To Make Your Own DIY Cute Baby Quilt

Being a mom, you very well know the magic of baby blankets. They keep your little one clean, calm, and comfortable. However, not all blankets are created equal. Some are too hard and scratchy, others are very heavy. When it comes to your baby, youd want nothing but the best. So why not make it yourself? All you need is a good fabric and modern quilting designs to help you.

Here’s a simple guide to your DIY baby quilt

Supplies

  •      A set of fabric already cut into 5-inch squares, or choose any fabric you want and cut up into 5-inch squares.
  •     Get about 1 yard of soft fabric for the bottom.
  •     You’ll need embroidery floss and quilting needle for tying it at the end.
Design

Look for machine quilting templates to help you with the design. Designing a quilt can sometimes be difficult especially if you’re a beginner. With the help of templates, there is nothing you should worry about.

Sew the sides

Stitch your rows together and make sure you match up the seams, pin and stitch along the long sides of each row of fabric squares.

Stuff your quilt

Stuff your quilt with a quilt bat. Sandwich your backing, batting, and top as you place them together in the finished product.

Sew all layers

Finish the quilt by stitching into each fold of the fabric, even in between where the pairs are made. This is called "stitching in the ditch", and is one of the easiest methods of quilting.

There you go! Your baby quilt is done! So what are you waiting for? Look for machine quilting templates and get started.
